Rhino 3D Advanced Modelling Techniques

This 2-day intensive course is designed to advance your 3D modelling by adding more complex modelling techniques and workflows to your skillset. 

It is aimed at Art Department Crew that is already familiar with basic commands in Rhino and want to explore more complex functions and improve their overall workflow. 

The content and exercises focus on architectural modelling tasks that are typical for work in the Art Department.

Course content:

The training will cover the following topics:

  • SubD – organic modelling
  • Curve from 2 views
  • Rhino mesh modelling
  • Surface from curve network
  • Arrays for architectural modelling

The training is aimed at:

  • Art Department Crew that is already familiar with basic commands in Rhino and want to explore more complex functions and improve their overall workflow. 
  • The course Rhino 3D Essential Training might be of interest to Art Department Crew who has little or no experience with 3D modelling in Rhino 3D.

Your trainer - Kristina Zimmermann:

Kristina is an Art Director in the UK film and TV industry. Her recent credits include Willow, Napoleon and LOTR – Rings of Power.

 

She started her career as a design assistant in theatre and worked as a project draughtsperson for the English National Opera before transitioning to film and TV.

 

She is a visiting lecturer for technical drawing, AutoCAD and 3D modelling at Toneelacademie/Maastricht University and FDI.

2 day course on Saturday and Sunday

9am to 5 pm (1hour lunch break)

Location:

FDI Offices at Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Rd, Slough, Iver SL0 0NH, UK

Teaching approach:

The course will be conducted in a practical, interactive manner. Participants will be asked to apply the information and knowledge from short demonstrations by the lecturer in exercises and small quizzes. Two mini modelling case studies covering organic shapes and architectural modelling will conclude the training.

£ 650+vat

Requirements:

The students will need:

  • Own laptop with a current working version of Rhino 3D (Version 6 or 7). A 90 days free trial version is available at Rhinoceros 3D/ McNeil (https://www.rhino3d.com/download/). Please make sure the software is installed and working before the training.
  • External 3-button computer mouse with scroll wheel.
  • Successful completion of Rhino 3D Essential Training is of advantage, but not a prerequisite. You should be familiar with the interface, key modelling practices and basic drawing, modifying, surface and solid commands before applying for this training.
