Rhino 3D Essential Training

Do you want to learn Rhino, but don’t know where to start?

 

Then this course is for you!

 

Rhino 3D Essential Training is a 2-day intensive introduction to 3D modelling with Rhino for the Art Department.

It is aimed at Art Department Crew with no or little experience with 3D modelling.

It will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm at Pinewood Studios.

The course will be taught in a hands-on, interactive style building on short demonstrations from the lecturer, exercises and mini case studies.

Participants will require a laptop with a current version of Rhino 3D (Version 6 or 7) and an external 3-button- mouse.

Kristina Zimmermann will be conducting the training.

The number of participant is limited to 6 persons per training.

Course content:

The training will cover the following topics:

  • How to efficiently learn a software
  • Introduction to Rhino 3D and how it fits into the software landscape
  • Interface and Navigation
  • Good modelling practices (osnaps, construction planes, layers, groups, properties)
  • Drawing commands (6x)
  • Modifying commands (6x)
  • Surface commands (6x)
  • Solid commands (6x)
  • Exercises to practice the learned commands
  • Mini case studies teaching different modelling approaches

The training is aimed at:

  • Art Department crew who want to learn 3D modelling in Rhino
  • With no or little 3D modelling experience in Rhino 3D
  • The course is NOT for Art Department crew who is already experienced in Rhino 3D and is looking to improve their skill set.
  • The courses Rhino Advanced Modelling Techniques, Technical Drawing with Rhino, and Visualisation and Documentation with Rhino might be of interest to crew that is already familiar with the basics of Rhino 3D. Please see more information below.

Your trainer - Kristina Zimmermann:

Kristina is an Art Director in the UK film and TV industry. Her recent credits include Willow, Napoleon and LOTR – Rings of Power.

 

She started her career as a design assistant in theatre and worked as a project draughtsperson for the English National Opera before transitioning to film and TV.

 

She is a visiting lecturer for technical drawing, AutoCAD and 3D modelling at Toneelacademie/Maastricht University and FDI.

Teaching approach:

The course will be conducted in a practical, interactive manner. Participants will be asked to apply the information and knowledge from short demonstrations by the lecturer in exercises and small quizzes. Two mini modelling case studies covering organic shapes and architectural modelling will conclude the training.

Cost:

£ 650+vat

Requirements:

The students will need:

 

  • Own laptop with a current working version of Rhino 3D (Version 6 or 7). A 90 days free trial version is available at Rhinoceros 3D/ McNeil (https://www.rhino3d.com/download/). Please make sure the software is installed and working before the training.
  • External 3-button computer mouse with scroll wheel.

Once we’ve received your information, an invoice will be emailed to you. The invoice needs to be paid in advance to reserve your spot in the training.

The number of participants is limited to 6 per training and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiting list is available.

Once payment has been received, you will be sent a confirmation email containing details regarding studio access, exercises and downloads.
